Teams

Medical Alert Assistance Dogs

We receive a huge number of enquiries from individuals hoping for help from one of our specially trained Medical Alert Assistance Dogs.  Our dedicated applications and medical liaison team manage all these enquiries, both from individuals who may have their own dog, as well as those wishing to apply for a MDD sourced dog and then support these applicants through the comprehensive application process. Our client and partnership team of Instructors and client support staff then directly assist our new partnerships in reaching an accreditable standard, ensuring that our clients have the tools and skills to manage their new assistance dog, that our applicant own dogs are of the same standard as our MDD sourced dogs and that all partnership dogs are accurately and consistently alerting to their owner’s medical episodes. They will then provide ongoing assistance for the lifetime of the partnerships, in the form of home visits and group refresher training.

Cancer and Bio Detection

Our Bio Detection Team is at the forefront of pioneering research that harnesses the extraordinary power of a dog’s nose to detect human disease. This dedicated group of canine specialists, researchers, trainers and technicians work together to transform lives through research into early, fast, non-invasive diagnostics.

We are proud to partner with academic and clinical institutions around the world to validate our findings through rigorous scientific study and ensure our work contributes meaningfully to healthcare innovation, leading to better patient outcomes.

The Science

Dog Supply and Training

The vital work of sourcing and training our future lifesavers starts here. This involves responsible breeding / sourcing of puppies and supporting our amazing volunteers with training and socialising these pups. Donations of enrichment and treats to use in our positive training practices are always welcomed!

Health and Welfare

Our dedicated Health and Welfare team ensure our dogs receive the high standard of care they deserve.  This ranges from managing preventative treatments and co-ordinating with vets, to grooming and exercising dogs. The Health & Welfare team provide full support to the volunteers and clients our dogs live with, including a 24hour emergency phone line.

Fundraising

Our fundraising team is here to support the range of incredible people who help make our work possible, making sure our life-saving dogs can continue changing lives every single day. Whether it’s individuals taking on personal fundraising challenges, communities coming together to host events, families choosing to give in memory of a loved one or companies looking to support a cause that matters, we want every supporter to feel connected and valued.

Finance

The Finance team keeps the charity on a steady footing by managing budgets, donations, payroll and reporting. Their work ensures every pound is used wisely and transparently, helping us plan for the future while supporting the day-to-day running of the organisation. With careful stewardship, they make sure we can continue saving lives sustainably and responsibly.

Annual Report and Accounts

Facilities

Facilities make sure our sites are safe, functional, and welcoming for dogs, staff, volunteers, and visitors alike. Whether it’s maintaining the training centre, managing improvements, or responding when things break down, they keep everything running smoothly. Their attention to detail helps create the environment we need to thrive.

Our Building

Governance

Governance supports the charity to be well-led, accountable, and always working in line with our values. The team works closely with our Board of Trustees, manages compliance and policies, and helps embed good decision-making and ethical practice across all areas. Their work helps ensure we remain trusted and effective in everything we do.

Technology

The Technology team supports the systems and digital tools that help the whole charity function. They keep our networks secure, our devices working, and our people connected — both on-site and remotely. They’re also helping us innovate and improve how we work through data, automation, and smarter platforms.

People Engagement

Our dogs are understandably the ones in the limelight most of the time, but our people are extremely important to us as well and this team looks after our staff and volunteers, without whom those life-saving noses wouldn’t be able to reach their maximum potential.

At our training Centre and in our regions, we encourage staff values and behaviours that foster a positive working environment and ensures respect, communication, integrity and fairness.  Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the charity, and these wonderful people help us with everything from fostering to dog walking, driving to gardening, answering the phones to baking for events and everything in between and their support helps us save lives every day.

Volunteer

Communications

We are a small charity doing big things with some amazing stories to tell and this team is responsible for making sure as many people as possible hear and see them. It’s not unusual to see a film crew at our Centre filming our Bio Detection Dogs at work or to read about a client partnership in a magazine and we know that people often feel moved to support us in some way after they’ve heard about our work so getting those messages right is key. Our social media channels are full of real time updates from our dogs when in work and play mode and we love to show everyone all aspects of our work.
