Medical Detection Dogs wanted to draw to your attention, if you are not already aware, to Alabama rot, an often fatal, flesh eating disease in dogs, believed to be caught in mud. CRGV, commonly known as ‘Alabama Rot’ is a doggy disease of unknown cause that affects all breeds and doesn’t discriminate in terms of age or weight.
Please familiarise yourselves with symptoms and images, particularly of early cases, and the UK map of occurrence. The link below gives a lot of information, advice and locations of confirmed cases.
Whilst this disease is relatively rare the numbers of deaths are increasing each year.
If you have any concerns about your dogs, contact your vet for further information and advice.
